Life

Everyone keeps saying “this will just be a blip of your life someday”. I wonder when that someday will come…

He’s seriously one of the best songwriters of my generation. Listen to the lyrics of this song. Raw, real, amazing storytelling…

This song is what made me pay attention to Passenger. He was playing it 18 months ago on tour with Ed Sheeran. Just an amazingly well crafted folk song..

This song is my favorite from the new EP. Could be the best BRIDGE they’ve ever written (in my humble opinion)…

GET STOKED! #fysinhistory

Rant of the day.

Kids are seriously SO greedy when it comes to new music these days. I’m glad to be a part of the “pre ipod” generation. Where there was no internet to shit talk about the fact that the record isn’t coming out INSTANTLY, or make ridiculous comments beforehand. You just waited until the music was released went to OFF THE WALL/SAM GOODY/The Record Store (in Howell) and bought it. Sometimes days/weeks/months after because your friend got it and TOLD you about it (in person)…

END RANT

Hudson River - May 2014

Hudson River - May 2014

Last week I worked selling merchandise at the New York International Auto Show. While there were plenty of amazing people coming through the turnstiles for the entire week it was meeting this amazing lady that became the highlight of my experience.
Meet Laverne. 88 years young and still navigating Manhattan and life like a pro. She has been running the will call window for the auto show for over 25 years. Before that she traveled the world as a singer and actress. We only had a few in depth short conversations but this woman changed my life. As I type this I am not having such a great week but thinking back to the few wisdom filled pieces of advice she gave me immediately changes my train of thought. I hope I make it to 88 and am this full of life and vibrance. I hope I have a story to tell and am still shuffling around with a bunch of young people keeping up with the times.
She attributes a lot of her current physical and mental state to staying in New York City her entire life and keeping active in an area where everything is at your fingertips always. She told me the fact that she can always grab a cab, walk to the corner store or visit friends and family quickly has kept her on the go and feeling young.
Laverne I tip my hat to you, I’m glad I was able to meet you and get to interact with you for a little over a week. I’ll try my best to draw positivity from you and the way you live your life, even in my darker moments.
